About Our Attorneys

Founding Attorney: SAM MCLURE graduated from Huntington College in 2007 with a degree in Business Administration. Before transferring to Huntington College, he attended Bethune-Cookman University as the first minority-white running back in the historically black conference. He went on to Jones School of Law and graduated with honors, cum laude. During law school, Sam had the distinguished honor of serving with the Faulkner Law Review, clerking with Supreme Court Justice Patricia Smith, clerking with the Attorney General’s Office, and studying International Law with Cornell University in Paris, France.

However, Sam’s most memorable law school achievement was adopting his first child from the Hungarian foster-care system. It was through that process that he and his wife saw the great need to protect children in the foster care system and to encourage adoption.

Sam’s law practice has maintained an orbit around protecting vulnerable and at-risk children. He and his wife have four children and have been actively engaged in the foster care system. Sam is the author of The End of Orphan Care, a book devoted to unpacking the orthodoxy and orthopraxy of orphan care. He has also founded or served with ministries and community outreach initiatives such as Kiwanis, Personhood Alabama, Proposal 16, and Sav-a-Life Pregnancy Resource Center.

Associate Attorney: GREG LOCKLIER recently retired after 25 years in state service, having worked as an Assistant District Attorney in the 15th Judicial Circuit and as Assistant Attorney General, Greg has joined The Adoption Law Firm. In addition to child welfare law, Greg has extensive experience working in state regulatory matters and governmental and legislative affairs. Greg has also served as the General Counsel for the Alabama Hospital Association. Greg is married to Angela and lives in Pike Road. He is the proud father to two children and a recent grandfather to a beautiful granddaughter.

Greg offers legal service in many areas, including governmental relations and administrative law, areas of experience he developed as a governmental attorney.

The scope of governmental oversight over so many areas of life is, as many know, quite broad. If you need assistance in dealing with a governmental agency related to adverse decisions or policy, licensing, or regulatory  issues you are encountering, please reach out to set up a consultation with Greg.

Associate Attorney: SAMUEL JOHNSON graduated from Liberty University with his Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science in 2020, Summa Cum Laude. He then attended Liberty University School of Law, where he graduated with his Juris Doctor in 2023, Cum Laude. During law school, Samuel had the privilege of serving as a Senior Editor for the Liberty University Law Review and as President of the Liberty Law Chapter of the Christian Legal Society.

Following law school, Samuel served from 2023-2024 as Law Clerk to Chief Justice Tom Parker of the Alabama Supreme Court. He then worked at HSLDA as an Associate Attorney, defending the rights of homeschooling families in several states, including Alabama.

At McLure and Associates, Samuel heads up the firm’s new Real Estate division, and also handles matters in a wide variety of other legal fields, particularly Estate Planning and business law.

Samuel is married and the proud father of five children. Samuel and his family worship at Reformation Baptist Church in Wetumpka, Alabama.
